“The interview last week went quite well. Of course all the supporting documentation I collected (a full 9 x 12″ envelope!) and brought along wasn’t even looked at. The worst part was the waiting. I was there by 8:30am and left at 12:10pm. The grin on my face obviously gave me away as I headed towards the elevator down. Two others also in the waiting area congratulated me — without me having to say a word that I was approved! The visa itself is quite colourful. USCIS must also like to test people’s willpower as there is a sealed brown envelope I must take with me to the border along with the visa. If you have another client that goes to the Montréal consulate office, I would recommend the Hôtel Le Dauphin on Rue de Bleury. It was maybe a ten minute walk from the consulate office and reasonably priced compared to the other hotels in the area. We’ll likely be seeing you again around early to mid-March to change over my status and start the EAD process. Now the challenge of finishing packing up and moving!”
